Traumatic Injury/Disability Issues

In February, 2002, Katherine's husband suffered a debilitating spinal cord injury. He spent six months in a rehabilitation hospital to learn to live with paralysis. Katherine credited their faith, their friends, and her experience in counseling and case management with bringing them through this difficult time. Katherine used every resource at her disposal to insure that her husband would continue to live a satisfying and productive life.

As a result, Katherine refined her skill in coping with the physical and psychological impact of traumatic injury and disability; in finding and coordinating resources; and in negotiating with government and private agencies. Therefore, she is able to empathize and to share her knowledge with others in similar situations.
